The Moulin of Hard is a charming Bed & Breakfast and a “must” when discovering the most beautiful sites of Normandy: Bayeux, the Mont Saint Michel, D-day landing beaches (Omaha Beach), Caen, Deauville, Honfleur, the wild coasts of the English Channel and The Cotentin, the Channel Islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Chausey, Serq…
Located 5 minutes from Bayeux and the D-Day landing beaches in Normandie, the Moulin of Hard is an old water mill dating back to the XVIIIth century, transformed into a spacious and comfortable Bed & Breakfast.
Almost completely surrounded by water, this Bed & Breakfast, has the undeniable charm of a building from yesteryear. Thanks to the faithfully carried out restoration, its owners have re-found the building’s spirit: the large picture window opens on to the large Reception Room, the mill’s imposing mechanism, the renewal of the old grinding stones, a garden which interlaces the poetry of water and the willows.
Port en Bessin offers many specialised seafood restaurants and Bayeux has a good choice of restaurants using local produce.
It is in the Guests’ Lounge that breakfast is served, a vast room which opens on to the countryside and river.
You will be charmed with the home-made jams, yoghourts made with Normandy milk, served with silverware on flax tablecloths and table sets.
In winter lunch is served in front of the large chimney and in summer on the terrace, a moment to benefit fully from the sun’s first rays while comfortably installed on one of the sun loungers placed at your disposal facing the water, which trickles past slowly – as slowly as the passing time.
As for the garden, it should be seen under the evening light, when shadows disappear, when the moon slips between the foliage and is reflected in the water, at the time when fairies awake.
